I have a successful working relationship with Council that has advanced this town and community and really moved Phillipsburg forward. This progress of good government needs to continue. Support from you to encourage the cooperation that is well under way is greatly appreciated.
Please enjoy this newsletter that puts in a nutshell the successes achieved thus far — Shappell Park, the boat ramp, the removal or renovation of blights, the lighting of the bridge. We can be proud of all of them. This is our town and we are not just coming back, we are a shining example of how visions become reality. The last few years have been among the most challenging and rewarding years of my life. It is my sincere hope that Phillipsburg is a better place because of them.
Where is Mayor Wyant on Saturday mornings?
Have you happened to notice those orange vests ‘out and about’ every weekend? Or who’s in them? If you take a close look, it is Mayor Wyant supervising youthful offenders who are working their community service hours. At no cost to the town, for the Mayor does this in his spare time, Phillipsburg gets these young men and women to keep up with litter and even weeds! Just recently the Mayor received a complaint about graffiti on the bridge near the Middle School. The Mayor and his Saturday crew came in and covered it with a fresh coat of paint!
Grand entrance at Union Square evokes a prosperous future
Phillipsburg - More than 100 invited guests attended the grand opening of Union Square's latest rehabilitated building hosted by Mayor Wyant and James R. Guerra President of Square to Square LLC. The four-story gem continues a vision of Wyant's that changes the perception of Phillipsburg. It is part of a grand entrance to Phillipsburg located directly across from the free bridge that was lit with period lighting back in December.
Mayor Wyant doggedly kept after the progress on the rehabilitation, stopping in every Friday to keep things moving. Next steps in the renovation of the downtown include more period lighting, brick walkways and designs are underway to make all of Union Square pedestrian friendly.
Facades all along south Main Street have been redone thanks to a grant program that all but one council member voted in favor of. Council President Marino was the lone dissenter for that application.
"I have vowed to breathe new life into this town." Wyant said, "Brick by brick it is happening. We are not just working in one direction. We're not depending on just one thing to change this town. We are doing it all, he continued.
