Black Bridge Update!

The Town of Phillipsburg and the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) continue working together on the Black Bridge reopening project.
NJDOT has advised the Town that Norfolk Southern has directed all project review and coordination to Chesapeake & Delaware (C&D), the company currently operating the rail line. NJDOT has already begun discussions with C&D and submitted the necessary plans for review so the approval process can continue without delay.
Both the Town and NJDOT continue to emphasize the urgency of this project due to the significant impact the bridge closure has had on residents, businesses, and traffic circulation throughout the community.
In addition, NJDOT has already started procuring construction materials so work can begin as quickly as possible once the required railroad permits are approved.
The Town of Phillipsburg will continue working closely with NJDOT and will provide additional updates as information becomes available. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
