Stormwater Educational Letter – From the Mayor

2026 Stormwater Management

Keeping Phillipsburg’s water clean and safe is a shared responsibility. Everyday pollutants such as litter, pet waste, fertilizers, yard waste, oil, detergents, and other materials can enter storm drains and eventually reach local waterways.

Residents can help reduce stormwater pollution by properly disposing of yard and pet waste, keeping leaves and debris away from storm drains, using fertilizers only when necessary, preventing soil erosion, recycling and reducing litter, and never dumping anything other than stormwater into the storm sewer system. The Town of Phillipsburg has also adopted ordinances addressing stormwater pollution, including pet waste, litter, wildlife feeding, improper waste disposal, yard waste, illicit connections, tree removal and replacement, and salt storage.
